Malaysian GP: 125cc Friday Free Practice

Smith gets off to a flying start ahead of this weekend's action from Sepang

FLYING BRIT Bradley Smith is the fastest 125cc GP rider in Sepang at the moment after topping the timesheets at the end of the first session.

With the track temperature peaking at 49°C at the midway point of the session, Smith bagged the fastest lap of the opening practice of the weekend by 0.2s.

Smith's best time of 2m 14.895 put him ahead of Marc Márquez and new World Champion Julián Simón 0.106s behind in thirds.

Smith could still take second in the championship, he's currently 21-points ahead of Nico Terol.

Danny Webb with crashed at the end of the session but is OK to continue.
