Major manufacturers linked to engine supply deal

Privateer MotoGP teams to wait almost a year for new motors

LATEST MOTOGP NEWS: At least two manufacturers are prepared to supply 800cc prototype engines to privateer MotoGP teams for future championships.

MSMA spokesman Takenao Tsubouchi made the claim at Misano but was not able to name the potential sources for the 230bhp engines. An educated guess would point toward Honda and Yamaha; the latter has already been linked to Hayate Racing (formerly Kawasaki) for 2010.

The decision on who can help who will have to wait for several months yet. “The factories are busy until then finalising plans and details for next year’s six-engine rule,” Tsubouchi explained.
