FIAT Yamaha MotoGP Team has confirmed Jorge Lorenzo will not be fit for the squad's second Sepang MotoGP test, after the rider fractured his wrist in a motocross riding accident.
Lorenzo has undergone surgery following the crash, which occurred last Thursday, while the Spaniard was training on a dirt bike near his home in Barcelona.
The 22-year-old fractured his wrist while riding at a motocross course near Montmelo, as part of his pre-season preparation.
Lorenzo was taken immediately to the Capio Hospital General de Catalunya and found to have a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal and a displaced thumb. During the operation a small titanium plate was inserted into Lorenzo's wrist. It's believed the runner-up in the 2009 MotoGP World Championship will be out of action for four to six weeks.
Thankfully, Lorenzo is expected to make a full recovery in time for the final pre-season test at Qatar in March.
