Can the newly-crowned MotoGP champ grab the record for the most points in a single season?
JORGE LORENZO may have the 2010 MotoGP World Championship already under his belt but it's not stopping the Spaniard from still chasing records in premier class racing.
Having already taken the MotoGP world title, Lorenzo can now set a new record for most points scored in a single season. At present, Lorenzo's team-mate, Valentino Rossi, holds the record with 373 points in 2008. Lorenzo, currently on 313 points, still has the opportunity to better this with a potential to finish the season with 388 points.
Lorenzo could also equal Rossi's record for the most podiums in a single season in the MotoGP class, which stands at 16, set by Rossi in 2003, 2005 and 2008.
Finally, the Spaniard could equal the most point scoring finishes in a single season; the record currently stands at 18 and is held by both Casey Stoner (2007) and Valentino Rossi (2008).
At present, Lorenzo has achieved 15 point scoring finishes in 2010.
