HONDA are planning on introducing a basic version of their RC213V prototype machine to sell to teams, as revealed by MotoMatters.com.

HRC Vice President Shuhei Nakamoto revealed that the production racer will based on the existing design of the bike used by Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, but cheaper with a lesser spec and a standard transmission.

The introduction of a production racer would level the playing field for the satellite teams and hopefully see a more competitive grid in the future.

If Suzuki go down a similar route with their bike, that was spied testing last month, it would see a welcome return of the production race bikes like the Suzuki RG, Yamaha TZ and Honda RS.
