Honda cool-off on Lorenzo

Fiat Yamaha rider left to sweat as Honda thinks again

HONDA RACING has cooled off on poaching Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo for next year's MotoGP series.

Recent reports in the Spanish press say Lorenzo's management team has been in negotiations with Honda Racing to secure a ride for Jorge in next year's MotoGP championship. But the two sides have yet to agree a deal which will see the 22-year-old leave his current team, Fiat Yamaha.

Lorenzo, who currently lies second in this year's championship, behind team-mate and current MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi, has been pushing his current employers for an increase in salary. It's reported the Spaniard wants another 1.5million euros on top of his existing 3.5million euro contract. Yamaha have said they are not willing to increase the former 250cc world champion's pay packet.

It seems that Honda are also unwilling to meet Lorenzo's financial demands. Sources say HRC are reluctant to pay the rider his asking price. Lorenzo's requested wage is deemed too high in the current economic climate; it's also reported that Honda are yet to be convinced of Jorge's technical development capacity.

So, for now, Lorenzo and Honda appear to be at checkmate. Watch this space for further updates.

sign for Yamaha George, concentrate on beating Rossi on the same machinery and carve yourself a reputation as the only man alive who is a genuine GOAT beater.

simple.

Honda would be hell for Lorenzo anyway, they don't do "personality' do they?

lorenzo is the only one that could be a GOAT.  I'm sure Moody and Rider bang on about him doing better than Rossi before he manage it (age wise).  Plus Jorge is only 22.  I think Jorge needs to win championship this year to beat Rossi's earlier statistics, but its very doubtful.  He's still a good rider and IMO the only one who can race against Rossi.  The rest just circlate the same curcuit.

Lorenzon should stay in the same team as Rossi and dominate just like the days Doohan and Criville.

Why lessen his chances by riding for Honda.

Lorenzo is capable of beating Rossi, keep on his back wheel every race and take the wins where you can. That's my humble opinion...

i dont see lorenzo leaving yamaha to honda he is just buying time to push yamaha to accept his salary proposal.. jorge need to win a championship in able to command more money... by doing so his only chance of doing that even rossi stay in yamaha for three more years is to stick with yamaha.. yamaha is the best balance bike out there and is the only bike you could use to beat rossi is to have the same bike... if jorge jump to honda i could pedrosa jumping on jorge's bike not because he wants to be rossi teammate is because the bike is competative on any track and plus he also want to be a champion on premier class..

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
