AS MotoGP suffers with a depleted grid of riders, Garry McCoy has stepped forward to offer his services.
Injuries sidelined Colin Edwards and Dani Pedrosa with damaged collarbones apiece, the latter out for an indeterminable period of time.
Italian website GPOne are reporting that the personal manager for Garry McCoy, Stephanie Steinbrecht-Aleix, sent an email last weekend to Dorna, HRC and Yamaha Tech 3 offering the Australian' availability.
Repsol Honda are unlikely to offer the seat of the number 26 RC212V, sticking with running their two remaining riders, in a measure to reduce the kilometres on Pedrosa's engine from the six allocated.
The further likelihood for the factory team if Pedrosa is still out for longer is to place the substitute duties in the hands of a test rider, probably Kousuke Akiyoshi. However, the seat at Tech 3 appears to be staying with Colin Edwards as the Texan will be fit to race at Silverstone.
Despite being at the age of 39, McCoy is still a viable option for MotoGP teams, having last been involved with the defunct prototype effort from FB Corse. The Australian boasts a C.V that includes 10 podiums in 500cc, three of those race wins, and the memory of the spectacle from smoking the rear of a Yamaha YZR500.
