TECH3 Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow crashed in qualifying at Silverstone, breaking his collarbone.

Crutchlow lost the back-end of his Yamaha on the entry to Turn 2, just three laps into qualifying. His team said that the track was cold and that Crutchlow's hard rear tyre wouldn't been up to temperature.

Crutchlow, who had been top-six in all three free practice sessions and who won both World Superbike races last year, was expecting to do well at his home circuit. Team mate Colin Edwards, who suffered a similar crash at Catalunya, qualified eighth.
