COLIN EDWARDS was hoping to continue with the satellite Tech 3 team for another season, but has found that he may not feature in Yamaha’s GP plans despite still being motivated to race motorcycles.

The Texan was quoted in GPWeek that he has been observing the World Superbike paddock and admitted to have been in talks with BMW, but the two-time WSB champion remained coy: "I've spoken to them. There's an idea … but there's also another idea. We'll wait and see."

Proposed speculation for this could be from how in recent years the Yamaha WSB team has become a stepping-stone feeding into the Tech 3 MotoGP squad - there could be the possibility of another rider swap along the lines of Spies and Toseland in 2010.

Although there will be no official Yamaha team competiting in production series next year it is expected that another team will take up the mantle of running YZF-R1s next year. Edwards would be a valuable candidate with his vast experience and close association with the Japanese manufacturer, the American would be a perfect addition for any team considering taking over – the current Supersport leaders ParkinGo a hopeful to take this position.

Should the Texan ride in World Superbikes it would mean his career has come full circle and even more so should he ride on a Yamaha, all he would need to do for complete closure is if he ended back in AMA on a Vance and Hines Yamaha.

The final possibility would be retirement. As CEII now has his Texas Tornado ranch to keep himself occupied.
