Capirossi unsure of Aragon start
MotoGP veteran undergoes surgery following first corner crash at Misano - full photo sequence
RIZLA SUZUKI rider Loris Capirossi is likely to miss the next round of the 2010 MotoGP series, after undergoing surgery to his right hand following last weekend's first corner crash at Misano.
The MotoGP veteran clashed with Ducati's Nicky Hayden on the first lap of the Misano race, damaging his right hand in the ensuing tumble. A 90-minute operation to reconstruct the bone in his little finger was carried out in San Marino hospital by Dr Oliviero Soragni.
Capirossi is now unsure if he will make the forthcoming race at Aragon, Spain, on 19 September.
"The operation went very well and I am very pleased with what Dr Soragni told me after I came out of surgery," said Capirossi. "Dr Costa was also present and he knows how the injury will heal and he will help me to make the right decision about when I can ride again.
"The bone has been reconstructed and I have been told I will get full movement back - which is great news - but at the moment the finger is immobilised so I don't cause any damage to the excellent work the surgeon has done."
The Italian currently languishes at 14th place in the 2010 MotoGP standings with 41 points.
