BBC MotoGP Suzi Perry out, Jennie Gow in

Jennie Gow, 32, to replace Suzi Perry

THE BBC has announced Jennie Gow will be the new female face in the company's MotoGP TV commentary line-up for the 2010 season.

Gow, 32, is said to have 'extensive background in newspapers, radio and television, presenting motocross and speedway’.

"It's a dream come true," she told BBC Sport. "It's the most amazing opportunity for anyone who's into bikes, I can't wait to meet every rider and every person involved with it - there isn't a rider I'm not looking forward to meeting.  (hope for me yet then - Ed)

"I call myself an honorary biker - I've got a lot to learn, and I'm very aware of that, but hopefully the biking community will welcome me.

Gow replaces Suzi Perry, who recently announced her retirement after 13 years on the show. You can see our Suzi Perry picture gallery here.

"...honorary biker..."

F*ck's sake!  Are there really no ex-racers (male or female) who are available?  Or are they not easy on the eye enough?

"honorary biker", do you get a certificate and a badge with that ?

Is this another case of the BBC discriminating against older women presenters?

I think Suzi was great, just the right mixture of knowledge, flirting and enthusiasm.

But yes, I'll also watch on Eurosport until they remove Stavros from the commentary team

WHY DO WE NEED COMMENTATORS THEY JUST DRIBBLE DOWN THERE CHIN AND ANNOY THE SHIT OUT OF YOU    AND I THINK EUROSPORT IS THE WORST

Tigermoth

Suzi quit to concentrate on other jobs, so was not punted out through ageism. They already have experts up in the commentary box. What they need down in the paddock is a 'people person' - someone who's chatty, can build relationships and stands out from the crowd of reporters the riders see, so that when they approach, say, Casey or Dani pre-race, they get a response rather than being blanked.

Let's give her a chance - Suzi had to learn the ropes when she started, and what you saw last year was the result of 12 years experience and relationship building.. Jennie's been very busy with motocross and speedway, so she should know her stuff, even if she doesn't ride. Besides, neither Des Lynam nor Harry Carpenter were exactly experienced sportsmen in their day..

Window_Licker

Suzi was utter shite, sycophantic and pathetic.

BBC is utter shite.. dumbed down to the lowest denominator.

Europsort is the only place to watch Bike racing, and if you disagree your probably a fucking retard .

SAMUEL MAYBURY

Greetings gentlemen..it has to be said that some of you seem to be closer to your caveman upbringing than even a CHIMP!  Some of you do however seem to be quite reasonable.  Now I hate to be the one to point out the obvious but prehaps the motorcycle industry needs to have a fresh face with a new approach to try and bring out the new riders, and yes i know this is very hard for some of you local legends, with great tales of wheelies, and knee down round the local roundabouts and all the big talk down at box hill, but please hear me.  What the lovelly Jennie is doing is playing a part in the GET ON campaign....for those who don't know this is a scheme to try to encourage new riders to get on motorcycles and learn, and progress so that the motorcycle industry can grow and become a stronger form of transort, now this is somthing that must happen, before this industry runs dry, there are currently less bikes on the road, fewer new riders and less money being spent, if this continues then your fav local shop will close down, so give the girl a chance, she looks great, and is doing more for this industry than most of you!!! lets welcome new riders, not insult them!!!!! thank you.
