RIZLA Suzuki’s Álvaro Bautista has returned to Spain to begin his recuperation after breaking his left femur in Qatar last weekend.
After a huge high-side crash at Losail on Friday 18th March, Suzuki's only MotoGP entrant underwent and operation to insert a metal pin into his bone. The surgery was a success, but Bautista suffered some minor complications as he developed Compartmental Syndrome, which occurs when pressure within the muscles around the injury builds to dangerous levels. A second small operation was required to open a surgical cut in his leg to relieve the pressur.
After an appointment with Spanish expert Dr Angel Villamor, Bautista was able to take his first few tentative steps on Thursday with his physiotherapist.
Rizla Suzuki’s star has no confirmed date for his MotoGP return but hopes to be present at the Spanish GP on April 3rd where John Hopkins will be riding the GSV-R 800.
