DANI Pedrosa has undergone successful surgery to his right arm on Tuesday morning after suffering from forearm discomfort due to arm-pump.
The 28-year-old was examined by Dr. Mir in Barcelona where it was then decided to complete the surgery immediately to ensure Pedrosa had ample time to recover before the French Grand Prix in two weeks’ time.
The press release from Repsol Honda states: “Dr. Mir used two incisions to enter the forearm, freeing the flexor and prone-extensor muscles in the appendage via minimally invasive microsurgery.
“Dani will remain in hospital for 24 hours, and will need to keep his arm immobile for some days. Following this, he will begin functional recovery.
“If his healing progress goes according to plan, Dani should be able to take part in the next race on the MotoGP calendar, held in ten days at Le Mans, France.”
Arm-pump or compartmental syndrome as it’s scientifically known is common amongst World Championship riders such as double MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner and current MotoGP riders Stefan Bradl, Scott Redding amongst others.
