‘Urban Tiger’ Blade to race at Donington BSB

Julien Da Costa to showcase first of three special Fireblade liveries in Sunday’s Superbike races

HONDA Racing’s Julien Da Costa will race an ‘Urban Tiger’ liveried Fireblade in British Superbikes at Donington Park this weekend.

The Frenchman will compete in both of Sunday’s Superbike races on the special-liveried CBR1000RR, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the 1994 ‘fox-eye’ model sporting a similar scheme.

It’s the first of three special liveries planned for the 2014 BSB season by Honda Racing. The other two will be showcased by Da Costa at Silverstone on October 3-5 and the final Brands Hatch round on October 17-19.

A limited production run of 2014 Fireblades in Urban Tiger colours is on sale now.

Honda said: ‘The eye-catching 'Urban Tiger' paintwork was originally introduced on the CBR900RR Fireblade in 1994 and became an iconic design still much revered by Fireblade fans. Ten years later, the livery is making a comeback with selected Honda dealers offering a limited-edition version of the 2014 CBR1000RR Fireblade in the same stunning design as Da Costa's BSB machine.’
