FORMER European Superstock and three-time British Supersport champion Karl Harris will make a return to BSB with Splitlath Aprilia this coming weekend at Outlton Park.
'Bomber' Harris was last seen racing in the BSB championship in 2009 before he was dropped by Hydrex Honda, now Swan Yamaha, and after a short period of time in the national Superstock series last season on an Aprilia, the 31-year-old from Sheffield was dropped again as the team noted that his 'mindset and performance had deteriorated' and shortly after he disappeared into obscurity.
Harris has been given another chance in the Splitlath Aprilia squad, joining Hudson Kennaugh to replace the departing Mark Miller. His return comes at Oulton Park, where he has had impressive form in his career including two second place finishes behind championship-winner Leon Camier in 2009.
"I'm well-chuffed to be back racing in the British paddock and I'm really looking forward to getting back out there this weekend," said Karl, "I've not raced this year but have kept my hand in doing a fair bit of motocross, so I'm ready for it. I can't wait to get out there and see what we can achieve with the Splitlath Motorsport Aprilia.
"I've ridden the Aprilia before in Superstock and it's a good little bike. I'm well-excited, and can't wait to get back out."
Team Manager John Dimbylow welcomes Harris to the squad:"I'm really pleased to have Karl joining our team. He has a very impressive track record and his previous results and championships speak for themselves.
"He already has experience riding the Aprilia RSV4 and myself, Karl and the whole team are excited about what we can achieve together. I believe he will be a fine addition to the line-up at Splitlath Motorsport."
