MSVR announce new one bike rule

Spare bike rule gets ousted as BSB seeks to lower costs and keep competition alive

Josh Brookes skittles the pack at Mallory Park BSB

IN A move to help keep costs down in the British Superbike Championship and other support classes, each rider will be limited to one bike only in all classes of racing.

If a bike is totalled in a crash then it can be replaced, but that can happen only once per race weekend.

Here's the official announcement from race directors at BSB, MSVR:

At each Championship event a rider may use only one motorcycle which will be marked and presented at Technical Control.

In the case of proven total wreckage the use of a replacement motorcycle is permitted once only during an event, however this must be constructed from sub assembled parts and authorised/verified by the Chief Technical Officer.

Sub-assembled parts means that no engine can be fitted into a frame. However typical assemblies that would normally be used to repair a crashed machine can be complete. Examples: handlebars, forks, foot pegs, front nose cone, front/rear sub-frame, swing arm and linkage assemblies are all considered acceptable.

The process of authorising the use of a new machine is not possible during a practice session or after the pit lane closes for the sighting lap of a race.

The organisers reserve the right to inspect any working area or vehicle within the controlled areas of the pits and paddock.

Lucky James Haydon's packed it racing.

This idea has not been thought through, how are riders expected to ride on the limit all weekend through often changeable weather conditions and only allowed to change a trashed bike once, its a joke. why not put stablisers on the bikes then no one will need a 2nd bike!.

I'd also like to know who rights these articles, because they usually involve insults to various riders, this time its James Haydon, 2 previous articles in which one called Kevin Schwantz a wrinkly faced Texan and another which called Dani pedrosa a smurf.

All the above are obviously talented riders unlike the Clown or Clowns who writes these articles.

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
