Laverty and Cooper's superbikes stolen

More than £100,000 worth of kit stolen from team's HQ

JOHN Laverty's spare BMW S1000RR Superbike and Richard Cooper's BMW S1000RR Superstock bike have been stolen from the team's HQ following the Silverstone BSB round.

Laverty's spare Superbike and Cooper's championship-winning Superstock machines were loaded in a white LDV van, parked in the team's compound. The thieves broke into the team's truck, then smashed the key cupboard to get the keys to the LDV van.

Meanwhile, they also loaded up their own van with spare parts from the team's truck, including 20 wheel rims, three full exhaust systems a pair of Bitubo forks, a starter motor and all the team's Bosch tools.

The LDV van has since been found by the police but it has been torched. It's not yet known whether the bikes are inside.

The whole job sounds like it was well organised by someone who knew a good amount about the Buildbase BMW's setup.

There is a £5,000 cash reward for anyone with any information leading to the arrest of those behind the theft. You can call 07969 056829 with any information.

F#*@%rs..! Just like the filth who ripped of CCM earlier this year. Unfortunately, just like the CCM thieves, odds are they’ll probably find a ready market for their loot and get away with it.

The reality is it’s all too easy to pass on aftermarket parts and change a bikes identity for resale. We all need to be more aware of what we buy second hand, on eBay... etc. They get away with it because of our apathy.

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
