NORIYUKI HAGA has taken his first laps on the Swan Yamaha R1 he will compete in British Superbike championship at Cartagena in Spain.

The popular Japanese rider is with reigning BSB champion Tommy Hill, undergoing their initial shakedown test.

Testing at the Spanish circuit over the next three days will not only be Haga's highly anticipated debut on the Swan Yamaha, but will mark the team's first run with the R1 built to the new rules for 2012, that includes a ban on traction control and a series spec ECU.

Let's hope that injury doesn't plague the series when all those computers are removed!

^^^ unlike all the crashes in MotoGP with those computers.

Yup! Bring it on, this will separate the men from the laptop warriors.

As much as I'm looking forward to watching BSB without computer aided electronics - it'll be epic to watch! You do realise it takes A LOT of balls and faith to ride a bike well beyond the limit of mechanical grip and hope the 'laptop warrior' in the garage has set all the sensors and levels up correctly, otherwise you're on the wrong end of a 100mph+ highside?

I know it's not as fun to watch, but I dont think the electronic assistance takes away the need for a skilled rider tbh, it certainly tightens the times up, but I dont think it's just a case of flip it into the corner and twist and go on the way out.
