Nottinghamshire rider thrown last-minute deal to ride ex-Rutter GSX-R1000

RACING VETERAN Chris Walker has been thrown a lifeline to race a privately-run Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the first round of the British Superbike championship.

Walker will race a Ray Stringer-prepared ex-Michael Rutter GSX-R1000. It isn't clear whether Walker's team has the funding to compete in the entire BSB championship.

The Nottinghamshire rider finished 9th in the 2009 British Superbike Championship, bagging 141 points for the Motorpoint/Henderson Yamaha squad.
