SHANE 'Shakey' Byrne posted the fastest time in the first Free Practice at Thruxton.

In sunny and dry conditions, Byrne posted a 1:15.969, followed by Chris Walker who posted a 1:16.304.

Last year, Byrne also lead the first Free Practice on his HM Plant Honda with a best time of 1.16.249, showing that a lack of traction control isn't slowing the riders down on the fast and bumpy 2.4 mile circuit.

Last year's champion Tommy Hill was fifth fastest with a 1:16.897 but team mate Noriyuki Haga - who is visiting Thruxton for the first time - is down in 27th, posting a best time of 1:18.970.

The fastest Ducati Panigale was Alex 'The Pirate' Polita who is also at Thruxton for the first time. He posted a 1:18.512, just behind Jon Kirkham but one infront of Supersport champion Alastair Seeley.

Abdul aziz bin Laden also on a Ducati Panigale posted the slowest time of 1:25.558, well outside of the 107.5% qualifying time of 1:21.666 he'll need to find in qualifying if he's to make the grid.

Get in there Shakey!! Good to see Tommy Hill up there too, now all we need is Nori to dial it in, and we're off :)
