With just 0.6 seconds separating the first top ten, tomorrow's BSB races at Mallory Park promise to be sensational
Andrews was narrowly demoted from a front-row start position with just two minutes of the Swan Roll for Poll session remaining. Just 0.6 secs separates the top ten. Andrews' team mate, Julien da Costa, starts from 12th.
The Kawasaki ZX-10Rs of Andrews and da Costa ended the first qualifying session in third and sixth places, and fourth and 12th after Q2.
Tomorrow's warm-up session is at 10:05. Race one starts at 13:00 and race two gets under way at 16:30. Both races are covered live on British Europsort.
‘A front row start would have been mint and we’ve been strong all session but I’m just going to have to do my usual lightning start tomorrow and make my knees and elbows as wide as possible. I’ve considered this weekend as a bit of damage limitation as I don’t get my broken scaphoid pinned until next week, so to run these sorts of times is a bonus.’
Julien da Costa
‘The changes we made for Q2 just did not work for me and I paid the price. We ran out of time and laps so did not make it through to the Roll for Pole but I think we have a good setting for tomorrow and I will just have to be committed on the first few laps to make my way up the field.’
Nick Morgan, Team Owner
‘I’m disappointed for Julien. He’s never raced at Mallory before and his times have been staggering but it’s just so, so close up at the top – sneeze and you’ll drop fifteen places. Simon? That was a good day’s work for a rider with a broken left wrist. He just needs a pair of solid points-scoring rides tomorrow and then he can get fixed and be firing on all four for Brands Hatch.’
