MSS Colchester Kawasaki man to 'grin and bear it' for the remainder of the season
SIMON ANDREWS says that he won’t be able to have the urgent surgery needed on his broken left Scaphoid before the end of the season.
The MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider, who has already taken what is an essentially privateer ZX-10R bike to two fourth place finishes this year, broke the large bone in his left hand and wrist four weeks ago and had to ride at Knockhill a fortnight ago with the bone in two places.
He has now undergone laser treatment on the break, to try and get some repair process going on. He said: “It’s difficult to tell whether it will make any difference on the bike until we get to the track, but there’s no way I’m going to let the rest of the season go because of this injury. We’ve had a great year so far this year, really improving the bike and on track and I know that there is more to come.
“I’ll just have to grin and bear it. The next round at Mallory will be hard because it’s such a tight and tough track, especially on the bigger bikes, but that’s the same for everyone so it’s just going to be a case of knuckling down and doing the job.”
