A MEMBER of the bin Laden family is joining British Superbikes in 2012.

Saudi Arabian racer Abdul aziz bin Laden will join Scott Smart, racing a Ducati 1199 Panigale with the Moto Rapido team in the top flight.

Abdul aziz is a a third-generation member of the bin Laden family, Osama bin Laden was a second-generation member - disowned by the family in 1994 after speaking out against the US preparations for the Gulf War.

Abdul aziz bin Laden competed in a handful of Superstock 1000 rounds last year on a BMW S10000RR and said: “I’m very proud to take part in BSB for what Saudi Falcons see as the fastest-growing Superbike series in the world."

Good luck to him. It also adds another nationality to the championship which is already great to see.

P.S. I really hope they sell Binladen t-shirts.

Sounds like someone that may encourage further investment in BSB. Good luck to him.

Yep fair play to the bloke, treat an individual as an individual. With the money going into his family he could be wrapped in cotton wool and sit happily minted, but he doesn't, he's coming to cold england to ride a bike around some of the best tracks in the world. Fair play to him!
