Video: Prankster drives girlfriend's VW Polo onto Brands Hatch Circuit during race

Odds of Jack still having a girlfriend?

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment after driving a Volkswagen Polo onto Brands Hatch Circuit during the middle of a race.

Jack Cottle drove his girlfriend’s car onto the circuit whilst a live VW Beetle race was taking place. The prank was filmed by his friend, who was passenger in the car, and then posted online. Another video was uploaded by a spectator showing a track-side view of the stunt.

As Cottle, from Tonbridge, Kent, drives down the pit lane, his girlfriend can be heard ordering him to stop, saying: ‘Jack, if you care about me, please just stop, I don’t like it. You’re going to crash my car.

‘Jack please, I’m begging you, I’m serious, don’t go, stop it, come on.’

However, he ignores her and continues to drive around the circuit until pulling back into the pits, saying: ‘We’ll say we got lost and ended up on the track’, whilst laughing with his friend.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: ‘On Sunday 15 June, Kent Police was made aware of a report of possible offences committed at Brands Hatch race track in West Kingsdown.

‘Officers have today arrested a 21-year-old man from Tonbridge on suspicion of false imprisonment. He remains in police custody.’

With the YouTube footage approaching almost 700,000 views and numerous people branding the stunt as idiotic and self-centred, Cottle defended his actions saying: ‘People are blowing it all out of proportion. It was something out of the ordinary.

‘You only live once and I live every day like it’s my last. Now I’m getting slated for being different.’
