THE KILLACYCLE electric drag bike has taken another record - the fastest quarter-mile time on a drag strip for a non-petrol-powered bike.

The record has just been confirmed for the stunning 7.8s run last November. The bike, which makes no engine noise other than a hum from the motor and tyre noise, was ridden by Scott Pallacheck.

Owner Bill Dube said: "I used to race my electric Cabriolet car, but I got tired of it breaking on the drag strip. I couldn't afford to build a dragster so I built a bike instead. The secret of the KillaCycle is the batteries. The powerful nano-phosphate battery cells are what makes the the bike go as fast as it does. If you think about it, the KillaCycle is just a giant cordless drill with wheels."

Dube added that the next version of the KillaCycle should top 1000bhp.

Watch the run here and see the bike go from 0 to 60mph in under one second - in virtual silence.

It's the 'virtual silence' bit that I don't like....But mighty impressive.

Maybe it's really a giant electric razor? Which is how it can 'shave' so much time off the 1/4 mile.....
