And who said battery-powered bikes don't work? Killacycle does a quarter mile in 7.89s @ 168mph
US DRAG RACING guru Scotty Pollacheck has made drag racing history again - by rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in under one second - on a battery-powered motorcycle.
Pollacheck achieved the amazing feat aboard the KillaCycle — a battery-driven drag bike that has already covered the quarter mile in under eight seconds.
“The powerful nano-phosphate battery cells are what makes the the bike go as fast as it does,” said racing team owner Bill Dube. He added, “If you think about it, the KillaCycle is just a giant cordless drill with wheels.”
Reports say Dube is now working on a version of the KillaCycle capable of producing 1,000 bhp.
Watch out, Veyron owners.
Bloody eck that is pretty awesome

When there's a road going version of an Alternative Fuel/Electric Bike that has the equivalent of 100 or so BHP, weighs around 200kg ready to go, looks good, and a tank range in the 140+ region, with a less than 5 minute refuel, then they might start to sell the buggers.
Until then they can whistle.

Rather like you will be once the petrol stops coming out of the pumps?
IIRC from fully charged the Killacycle can do 5 or 6 runs and can be recharged in the pits, from a generator, in 15 minuets - and that is limited by the current charger as the cells from A123 could be charged in less than 5..

Actually that is doable already - the problem is the cost is in the cells. As charging is pennies - you are effectively doing the buying of all your fuel in advance.
And that costs. Big Time.
