WHATEVER you might think of them, leaning three-wheelers – or ‘reverse trikes’ as they’re sometimes known - show no sign of going away.
Recent years have seen three-wheeled scooter launches including Yamaha’s Tricity. An MT-09-based concept, called the MWT-9, was unveiled in October, also by Yamaha.
And now US firm Tilting Motor Works has developed kits that turn Harley-Davidsons and Honda Gold Wings into leaning three-wheelers, and says it can do the same for other models.
The conversion kits, which cost from around £7,000, include a new front end with two tilting wheels, providing handling characteristics similar to a conventional motorcycle.
They’re currently available for Harley touring and Softail models, including the Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Heritage Softail and Fat Boy, as well as the Honda Gold Wing GL1800.
Tilting Motor Works is also accepting refundable $250 (£170) deposits on kits for other makes and models, subject to ‘evaluation’.
