HERE'S A VIDEO of Yamaha's hybrid dual-fuel scooter, revealed on Visordown several weeks ago.
The machine, dubbed the HV-X, has been designed around the aluminum chassis of the T-Max 500. The 250cc petrol engine is coupled to an electric motor, giving a claimed a maximum power output of around 20bhp (is that all? -Ed).
The video clearly shows how the HV-X uses battery power at low speeds, bringing the petrol-powered motor into the equation once underway.
It's a clever idea that we reckon will figure heavily in many future commuter motorcycles.
