A STUNT rider luckily survived a horrific accident after hitting a high-wire whilst performing a jump at a circus.

The rider, Josh Headford, was knocked off his motocross bike when he collided with the wire and was dropped into a 25-foot freefall, the packed crowd believed the fall was part of the act until the ringmaster revealed it was an accident.

As the lights dimmed the crowd feared the worst but Headford was lucky as he only sustained breaks to his leg, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

The 20-year-old said he would have made the jump had it not been for the wire, which shouldn't have been there were he attempted the feat. He has vowed that he will be back on a bike as soon as his injuries have healed.

glad the guy survived, that looked awful.
Given the dangerous nature of the stunt, would he and his team not usually know the surroundings, possible dangers etc inside out ? For the wire to to have been there without them knowing seems crazy. I can only assume it was perhaps dropped from a higher height somehow ?

The wire he hit would always be in that position. It's one of the main bracing wires for the tent !
