MISSION MOTORS was one of the most talked about of the new electric bike firms over the last couple of years but has been very quiet of late – not even competing at the TT where its rival, Motoczysz, took all the glory.

Now the firm has set a new electric bike lap record around Laguna Seca and published an on-board video to show just how well the new Mission R goes. It certainly looks quick, but how long could you put up with that noise?

On its blog, the firm wrote:

Over the weekend, Mission Motors participated in REFUEL, a Time Trial event for clean power vehicles at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Our rider, Steve Rapp, took the track on the Mission R and set a new EV motorcycle lap record of 1:43.7. The event was an excellent opportunity to test and hone our latest electric vehicle technology. By continuing to push the boundaries of our technology on the racetrack, we improve the efficiency and reliability of the components in our client’s vehicles.

We would like to thank our sponsors and partners who make our racing effort possible: Texas Instruments, Pro Italia Motorcycles, Solid Concepts, Dunlop, SpeedyMoto, Öhlins, Cosworth, GoPro, BST Wheels, Zero Gravity, Motonium, Kosman and RADD. We would also like to thank our crew chief, Chuck Warren, and our rider, Steve Rapp. Last but not least, we would like to thank Speed Ventures for putting together such a great event

You can next see the Mission R in action at the Laguna Seca TTXGP in July. Until then, enjoy some photos this video of Steve tackling the 2.36 mile road course on the mighty Mission R.

How clean is it though? Were any fossil fuels burned in the charging of the battery, for example?
