THE handbuilt 240bhp electric bike of Chip Yates has set a new record for the Pikes Peak hillclimb.

Completing the difficult 12.27 mile dirt/tarmac mountain hillclimb in 12:50.094, Yates finished second in his class beating the existing electric time by over four minutes.

Hampered by an 'agonising' 2.6 miles of dirt, the Pikes Peak hillclimb will be entirely paved with tarmac next year as Chip targets a quicker time.
