Frank Thomas Pacific Cafe Racer style leather jacket

The Frank Thomas range hasn’t always been held in that high a regard in the office. The reputation they have is a mix between the older bikers that remember when they made top quality kit, and then those that have had their fingers burnt once and never looked at the brand again.

If you fall into the latter category it’s about time that you had another look. FT have been working hard over the last four years to improve the quality of their range, at all levels from choice of hide all the way through the construction process, with a greater focus on quality control before products reach us, the customers.

The Pacific jacket is the perfect product to showcase the improvement. Constructed using Aniline leather, which is the most realistic looking leather i.e., it doesn’t go through so many stages of treatment from being tugged from a cows skeleton to hung on a rail in a shop. But, it isn’t quite so resistant to dirt ingress.

It looks really good and fits well, except for the tops of the arms which don’t seem to be in keeping with the rest of the sizing. The zips are all YKK which, doesn’t mean a lot when you’re reading, but definitely matters when you’re wearing gloves and fishing for your wallet in the cold.

Detachable liner is as you would expect, the price, £199.99 isn’t. It’s good value for money. A top quality jacket that really is as good as it looks.
