Spy shot: face-lifted KTM 1290 Super Adventure revealed

KTM's 160hp adventure bike gets first round of updates

KTM'S 1290 Super Adventure is getting updates including new styling, as revealed in this spy shot.

Although heavily disguised, it looks like it's got a new headlight, possibly featuring twin side-by-side lights to replace the stacked central ones of the existing model. The masking tape disguise itself suggests the headlight has changed.

The fairing has been altered, with a less pointy nose and repositioned air scoops. Spotlights housed in the fairing have been raised and moved back slightly, and the fairing sides reshaped to accommodate their new position.

The screen has also changed shape.

It's likely the face lift is part of a round of updates which also includes technical revisions to bring the model into line with Euro 4 noise and emission limits for 2017.

Hence the bizarre looking testing apparatus extending from the luggage rack to well above the rider's head.

There's also evidence of air-flow testing in those strips attached to the rider's jacket and helmet, another possible explanation for the pole on the back.

The bike was spotted being tested alongside the existing model in Spain.
