New Suzuki VanVan 200

Shrewd move - capacity hike gives Suzuki a mini scrambler

EVERYONE knows the Ducati Scrambler is a bit like a grown up Suzuki VanVan - including Suzuki, who have just grown-up the VanVan with a 75cc capacity hike.

Full specifications have not been released but Suzuki says the VanVan 200's 199cc air-cooled single is 'built for a brisk response' and tuned for good low-to-mid-range power.

Kerb weight is a slim-line 128kg and the wide seat is at a low height of 770mm, making an unintimidating prospect for short riders.

It's got the VanVan 125's characteristic fat tyres on an aluminium18-inch front rim and 14-inch rear.

There's a single front brake disc with a two-piston caliper and a drum at the back.

The skinny tank holds 6.5 litres and it's got an 'easy-to-read' speedometer with a black face and white numbers which become illuminated green in the dark.

Colour options are blue, grey and black. Price is to be confirmed.
