New Royal Enfield on the way?

Firm trademarks ‘Himalayan’ amidst rumours of new adventure model

ROYAL Enfield has applied to trademark the name ‘Himalayan’, suggesting the release of a new model could be on the cards.

The trademark application submitted yesterday would allow the Indian manufacturer to use the name on anything including motorcycles, trikes, protective clothing, helmets and more.

Last year, Visordown reported that Pierre Terblanche, the South African designer who has worked for Ducati, Cagiva, Piaggio and Norton, left Confederate Motorcycles to become head designer at Royal Enfield.

The news of his move came shortly after Internet reports suggested that Royal Enfield would be releasing a new adventure bike along with a new 400cc engine to power upcoming models.

It's entirely possible that the 'Himalayan' is Terblanche's first venture with Royal Enfield coming to fruition.
