DUCATI has just taken the wraps off the new Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro – one of the few bikes in makes that actually doesn’t come in red.
No, beige is the new red when it comes to tough adventure bikes, it seems. Ducati calls the colour ‘sand’ and says that the matte finish is actually slightly rough.
Well, it won’t get lost in the sea of red Ducatis at the club meetings, at least, even if there is the chance of losing it if you ever actually venture into a desert. Even the seat, exclusive to the ‘Pro’, gets a matching beige insert.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro isn’t just a paint job, though. As well as having the longest name in the current Ducati line-up, it also gets Pirelli Scorpion Rally rubber, Touratech-designed, Ducati Perforamance-branded crash bars, extra LED lights and a lower screen. All the easier to see over when you’re standing on the pegs. A Termignoni road-legal exhaust tops the package off.
Of course, being based on the Multistrada Enduro, it’s packed with technology. There’s cornering ABS, cornering lights, traction control, multiple riding modes, semi-active suspension, wheelie control and hill-start control. Add to that Ducati’s own ‘DMS’ multimedia system to integrate your phone, and it’s a pretty feature-packed creation.
Technically, it’s all Multistrada Enduro. That means a 152hp Testestretta V-twin with variable valve timing, which is going to be more than enough even when you take into account the Pro’s heftier 261kg kerb weight. Sensible 9000 mile/12 month service intervals and a whopping 18,000 miles between valve adjustments add a surprise dose of practicality.
