TWO new mystery British sports bikes are due to debut tonight - and they sound good.

Called the GP-Sport and GP-Street, from Spirit Motorcycles, they're 750cc triples with a GP-inspired 'fully-adjustable' chassis, said to be a first from a British manufacturer.

Little else is confirmed about them at this stage except that they have carbon-fibre bodywork and some clever-sounding electronics.

Here's what the firm said in a brief message: 'These exciting new road & track bikes feature a first from a British manufacturer - a Grand Prix-inspired fully adjustable chassis, from headstock to swingarm.  Coupled to a tuned 750cc 3-cylinder engine, lightweight carbon fibre monocoque bodywork, top quality equipment & running gear and cutting edge, F1-style electronics, these bikes will redefine the phrase British Performance Motorcycle.'

The message came in an invitation to the unveiling of the bikes at trendy motorcycle café The Bike Shed in Shoreditch, London, after 6pm tonight.

We'll update this story with pictures and more details as soon as we have them. For now, we thought we'd give this teaser of our own.

Update: there are to be four versions in total, the GP-Sport and GP-Street and higher spec GP-Sport R and GP-Street R, featuring a 'tuned and blueprinted' 749cc in-line triple.

The R versions will make a claimed 180bhp while the two base models make 156bhp.

Claimed wet weight is 145kg for the R versions and 150kg for the base verions.

The chassis is brazed chrome-moly steel with aluminium inserts and a fully adjustable headstock.

Suspension is provided by K-Tech KTR forks and a K-Tech DDS four-way adjustable shock.

The GP-Sport and GP-Street will start from £44,999, the GP-Sport R £64,999 and the GP-Street R £69,999.

The faired GP-Sport and naked G-Street have been unveiled at The Bike Shed while the R versions are on the way in limited numbers.

The bikes are a collaboration between custom builders Spirit of the Seventies and Tony Scott of tuning firm T3 Racing,

Tony Scott, MD at Spirit Motorcycles said: “We’re very excited to be launching our first two new models to the market. Both the GP-Street and GP-Sport have been built using our unrivalled technical know-how and engineered to the very highest standards, whilst maintaining an exquisite and luxurious design. Our limited production run also means Spirit Motorcycles guarantees exclusivity, making the machines the perfect choice for any discerning motorcycle fan."

Spirit's full specs for all versions are below.

Here are the first pictures, straight from the presentation.

Exactly where does one race 750s any more?

Nice concept. Let's hope they keep the weight down. I suspect this concept will fetch a premium unfortunately.

The bikes look and from the wright up sound great, what a great project, a good ISP a road bike that you can alter the geometry on.

I'm not too sure who the target market is as 750 racing is many down to classic racing club's but hey I hope they sell a few to the discerning collector who will keep it in the corner of the trendy open plan office pace.

Yes, there are some bankers that hang rare Ducatis on walls as wall art. Quite dangerous those motorcycles, you know.

They're the 2013+ Daytona engines with different internals. 76 x 55 mm is surely close to what the expected 765 Street Triple will be (I'd guess 76 x 56), which appears also to use the new block (barrels separate instead of integrated).

You can easily get a difference of 0.5 mm in the crank throws just from the grinding step, but I wonder if they've gone to the effort of making their own crankshafts? 14200 rpm peak power is probably quite a bit higher than the new Street Triple will be aiming for, so it may even be necessary.

But at that price these are going to be extremely low volume, so I don't suppose it affects Triumph all that much.

180 bhp at the wheel, so around 200 at the crank. Out of a 750 triple? Remarkable. How long between rebuilds?

Such low weight! A high powered 750 street bike with a wet weight of 145kgs. Surely this is what the large bike manufacturers should be achieving right now. Is it really that expensive to mass-produce?

Well that's the price you pay for bespoke,,,

There's not a lot new here, I'd buy a Triumph and let the 'discerning' pay for this...
