New Bimota BB2 uses S1000RR engine

Italian firm's second love-in with BMW

THIS is Bimota's new BB2, a prototype new model powered by BMW's S1000RR engine.

Designed by sak_art_design, this is Bimota's second BMW-engined motorcycle, the first being the BB1, a supermono powered by the single-cylinder F650 lump.

The BB2 uses an all-new chassis and swingarm, features Ohlins suspension, Brembo monobloc brakes and an Arrow-slip-on echaust. Bimota haven't changed much engine wise, so the power output will be similar to a stock S1000RR. Plenty.

The BB2's looks are typically Bimota: out there, individual and controversial. The twin-hidden headlights are a huge departure from the S1000RR which looks every bit a Japanese superbike. Perhaps the BB2's look is closer to what BMW's designers originally considered for the first S1000RR?

Bimota are remaining tight-lipped over whether this will ever be produced, but you wouldn't go to all that effort only to shelve the project.

So no word on price yet or availability but let's just say: lots and probably.
