New Aprilia RSV4 expected in 2013?

Biaggi opens the door for rumours of a new Aprilia RSV4

AT the launch of the Aprilia World Superbike team in Milan yesterday Max Biaggi may have accidently revealed that there will be a new RSV4 at the end of 2013.

The former 250GP and World Superbike champion stated that 2012 season will be important for the factory team as it will be the penultimate year of running with the current Aprilia RSV4, as the development on the V4 superbike will end, ready for a new bike to be introduced at the end of next year.

No more information is available for what Aprilia have planned for the next generation RSV4, but it is a logical step for the Italian manufacturer as the RSV4 will be five years old by then, well in the time zone for a replacement. Aprilia will also want to release a updated challenger to compete with the new Ducati 1199 Panigale.

Here at Visordown we expect the new model to retain the same V4 engine - but uprated - within a new chassis and body, similar to what they did with the first and second generation RSV Mille (1998-2003 and 2004-2009).

Hmmmm, just wondering if they'll actually bother with a new incarnation of the bike for WSBK...if CRT is the way forwards, and most teams are using the RSV4 motor in Moto GP won't they chuck everything at that instead?

Guess we'll see..

Red Mille
I hope they do away with the side fairing cutout and hide the engine, it isn't the best looking one in the world!

Not a best looking engine??? .... Not a beauty contest exactly. That's for cruisers, you know ... LOL

The certainty of CRT future and their specs is close to none at this point. Ask Dorna, they have no clue ... LOL. Until they make up their mind and the rules settle down (if that's ever possible) than Aprilia can roll their dice one way only.

mxs mxs 3, exactly, so hide the bloody thing!!!

I know moving with the times and all that bollocks, but I do miss V-twins. Only ducati make a V-twin sport bike now, come on aprilia make another twin! And whilst your at it Honda please roll some more SP2's off of the production line :-)

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
