Naked Benelli twin expected in 2012

Due 750 to be sold in China before reaching Europe

BENELLI have fresh hopes to produce their delayed Due 750 in 2012.

The funky parallel-twin was first shown as a concept at the Cologne show back in 2006 and was originally intended to go on sale the following year and then again in 2010, but failed to materialize.

Benelli have been under the control of their Chinese parent company, Qianjiang Motor, since 2005. In 2009 QJ invested heavily in the Italian manufacturer despite not yet turning a profit, to help in reviving the company and lead to the opportunity for new bikes like the Due 750.

Benelli's Chinese CEO, Yan Haimei told Motorcyclist Online: "We will present the final 750cc Due at the end of 2011. It will be built in Italy, with sales starting in China and then following in Europe and other markets."

The 756cc engine shares two cylinders with the 1130cc triple that powered the Tornado and Tre-K and featured radial brakes, fully adjustable suspension front and back.
