KTM Duke 200 ... now for sale in the UK

KTM'S bigger brother to the baby Duke 125, the Duke 200 is now in UK dealers.

Already for sale in the Far East, the Duke 200 comes to Europe and will cost £3995 in the UK, just £200 more than the 125. Although it is only £200 more for an additional 75cc, frustratingly for UK buyers the KTM Duke 200 costs around £1,350 in India.

KTM claim the Duke 200 delivers 27 bhp and weighs just 125kg. It's only available in orange.

I see a big grey import scene coming.

Totally agree with the first two comments. Someone could make some serious money importing these bikes from India. The same could be said for the CBR250R and the new CRF250L and 250 Suzuki.

@beep1 Someone IS already making tons of money by bringing them to the market place ;) You do realize that, being able to sell them at those prices over there means that the production cost is MUCH lower.

The only reason they're asking for A LOT more is that people are still buying them at the asking price. Simples.

Guys, I'm Samarth, a biker from India.

The KTM Duke 200 sold in India is indeed cheaper but what's so surprising about it? Already many bikes are cheaper in India. See their prices:

KTM Duke 200 is for around 1.17 Lacs rupees Ex showroom which is 1350 pounds as the article says.

Hero Karizma 223cc (touring bike with licensed engine, components from Honda's CRF 230) is for approx Rs. 82,000.
Yamaha YZF R15 (inspired from YZF R125, but faster than R125)= Rs. 1.15 Lacs ex-showroom.
Heck, even the latest CBR 250R costs Rs. 1.50 Lacs ex showroom only. That is some 1700-1900 pounds I think. :D

India has a lot of natural resources in abundance, mastery in mass production and cheap labour, so this is pretty much expected to happen.

But the bigger 600 and 1000cc bikes are hellishly expensive as they're not made in India but imported.
Any other query anyone has?

SKK Youve put the question that the bozos above won't talk about.

You watch how few, if any, respond with an answer.
