LAUNCHING a new 200cc Duke KTM look set to increase the range of aggressive lower capacity bikes with the addition of a 350 - unfortunately both are for India only.
The only small capacity bike available in Europe and outside of South Asia, is the new KTM Duke 125 aimed for motorcycling newcomers. Making the bike affordable to this group of riders KTM struck a deal Indian motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj, where the bike is also sold. Paving the way for the additional 200 that will be released later this year, an announcement from CEO Stefan Peirer revealed a 350 will follow in 2013.
Peirer has high expectations for the new 200, with forecasted sales of 25,000 to 30,000 units in the first year of launch. It is unlikely that the bikes will be released in Europe, the 200 and 350 are part of the partnership with Bajaj to take advantage of the key markets in South Asia.
