KTM announces 1290 Super Duke R Special Edition

Pimped up with PowerParts and a new paint job

ANOTHER new addition to the 1290 Super Duke stable for 2016 is the Super Duke R Special Edition – a 1290 Super Duke R that's been blinged up with KTM’s PowerParts catalogue.

Extras over the standard R include an Akrapovic end can, which is a claimed 1.5kg lighter than the original exhaust. The Special Edition also gets wavey brake discs, stiffer triple clamps and adjustable brake and clutch levers, along with a white and ‘Galvano Orange’ paintjob that includes the wheels.

The Special Edition also gets lever guards and a two-part seat, which KTM says makes the rider sit 2mm higher. The bike has carbon/Kevlar clutch and generator covers as well.

Other minor changes include aluminium orange anodized caps for the brake and clutch fluid reservoirs.

This version of the 1290 Super Duke R will only be available for a limited time, although KTM hasn’t yet said what that is or what the bike will cost.
