Kawasaki Z800 leaks

Pictures of bored-out, restyled Z750 emerge early

KAWASAKI'S forthcoming Z800 has been widely rumoured and now the pictures have emerged to prove those rumours were right.

The bike, derived from the Z750, gets more capacity (as the name suggests) and hints at a theme developing through Kawasaki's 2013 models: the ZX-6R is going up to 636cc, the Ninja 250 is becoming a Ninja 300. Kawasaki appears to be following the age-old mantra: there's no substitute for cubic inches.

The chassis and engine look like they're probably largely carried over, with mods (the extra capacity should be no problem, since the Z750 motor is related to the old ZX-9R unit), while the styling is clearly from the hunched-forward school of thought that brought the latest Z1000.

That's a love it or hate it bit of styling. Even the bike looks bloody unhappy. But I like it.

Any pics of the 300R ? Looks the same as the new 250R ?

I think I know how the styling was done.
Get 3 bits of paper, one matte black, one glossy black and one apple green.
Stick them in a bowl of water and wait till they go soggy.
Squidge the bits paper together into a ball. Don't worry about the colours mixing up.
Mount the ball on the tip of a ruler and flick it at a wall.
Simply add wheels.

Shame they couldn't have used a twin with that displacement instead. For that kind of bike I'm not sure a 4 banger will give the same level of mid range as a twin, and it's not like it's a flat out screamer.

Still, agree with Thoppa on the styling, I like it but can see a lot of people hating it.

Just when you thought the ZX-14 was the ugliest bike they make...

All mid-weight nakeds are becoming very similar in look.

The problem with the middle Z has never been it's lack of go, it goes fine, it's always been the suspension and handling. Extra capacity -fine, very nice, but for heaven's sake spend a bit of effort and money on making it handle like a very sweet-handling thing !

GORGEOUS Simple as that

I have seen worse styled bikes - oh wait a minute on reflection no I haven't! looks as if it was styled by Tracy Emin!!

Given a choice of love it or hate it I think I'll err on the side of good taste & hate it. Shame really because the big K make good bikes even if they do look like this.......

I've got a Z750s I think I'd rather do this, than shell out on an whole new bike for 50cc more...

Well, I for one really like this, Have really enjoyed my 2010 z750 and will be looking to chop it in for one of these, just have to decide what colour, then sort the tail tidy & exhaust can and she will be good to go !
