Italy: Honda VFR1200F to cost 15,500 Euros

Honda's new V4 heavyweight gets beefy price tag to match

15,500 euros on the Italian market

HONDA Italy has announced the 2010 VFR1200F will go on sale at 15.500 Euros (£13,850).

The news will come as a shock to many potential buyers looking to splash out the new V4 sports tourer; rumour had suggested the price of the new machine would be closer to 12,000 Euros (£10,800). It's believed the heady price tag is for the standard model only and not the all-singing 'look Ma, no clutch' automatic version. We reckon Honda will be looking for at least another £1,500 for that bad boy.

Visordown tested the new-generation V4 at the bike's World Press Launch in Japan, earlier this month. Our man gave the new machine a ripping report, after he rogered the 250kg beast for all it was worth around Sugo test track. Read his report here.

Next week, Visordown will be testing the 160bhp machine on Honda's European launch. The itinerary involves no track tests, but plenty of road riding, so keep your eyes peeled for real-world report next week.

We'll be able to give you a firm update on the bike's UK retail price from the launch, too.

The high price is to cover the cost of the steel required for that gargantuan silancer.

You seem to forget that the value of the pound has gone down the drain.

In Euro standards this is a good price a cbf1000 cost 9900 Euro

Good luck with that Honda...as well as being hideous it looks like the VFR is going to be one expensive bike. The way things are going the pound could soon be worth less than an acorn, which will make things look even worse in £ terms.

The positive is that there might be a good opportunity for Triumph here - if they can improve the build quality of the Sprint I'm sure they'll sign up plenty of VFR riders who can't/won't stomach the new VFR's salty price tag.

I have the pre V Tec VFR and love it and I liked the look of this one apart from the silencer BUT the price tag makes it a definate no no. I use mine for touring so would want luggage and some of the extras with cruise control if they do it. The price tag for those extra bits would make it more like £16-£17000??? just way to much.

yeah good luck with that Honda

I own a VFR V tec, I defenently will not be looking to replace it with the over priced new one or any other HONDA IN THAT FACT. Had to take the old one to a garage to replace head light bulb, as I could't get in to replace it my self. So at £15k does that get you your own personal fixer, if a bulb goes??

I always thought that motorbikes where a poor mans choice of transport ( so ma da say's ) You just look at the prices of the new bikes coming out they all seem to be around the £10k mark. for that money you could by a decent car.

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
