Hyosung confirms new GD250R sports bike

EBR 1190RX look-alike could be coming soon

HYOSUNG has confirmed it will soon be launching a new 250cc sports bike called the GD250R.

It’s the first example of an all-new range of motorcycles that the South Korean firm is planning to release in the next couple of years.

The A2 legal bike - which bears a striking resemblance to EBR’s 1190RX - is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-valve single cylinder engine that makes a claimed 27.6hp at 9,500rpm and 17.8lbft of torque at 7,000rpm.

It has a six-speed gearbox, 37mm USD forks and an offset rear shock adjustable for preload.

Seat height is 810mm, taller than both Kawasaki’s Ninja 300 (785mm) and Honda’s CBR250R (780mm). Kerb weight is a claimed 155kg.

Braking duties are carried out at the front by a four-piston caliper with 300mm disc whilst the rear gets a twin-pot caliper with 230mm disc - no mention of ABS is made.

Dealers in South Africa - which reportedly tend to import new Hyosung models a couple of years before the UK - are taking orders for next year when the new model will go on sale for R 44,900 (£2,470).
