Husqvarna's 701 Supermoto teaser campaign

See Husky's new Supermoto riding on ice

HUSQVARNA has launched a teaser campaign for its 701 Supermoto, which so far includes a micro-site and video of the new model.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen the bike, since it was officially unveiled at the EICMA Milan show last year, but it is the first time we've seen it on ice. The short video shows the motard riding across an ice lake with studded tyres before the campaign’s slogan ‘In Search of the Essence’ pops up on screen.

The firm plans to put the new Husky on sale late this summer. It will likely be in a similar price bracket to the £7,899 KTM 690 SMC R, since the two bikes are mechanically identical.

Both machines use KTM’s 690cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which punches out a healthy 67hp and a respectable 50lbft.

Like the KTM, the 701 Supermoto also gets ABS, a slipper-clutch, ride-by-wire throttle and switchable engine modes. The Husky gets an extra two litres of fuel capacity, at 14 litres compared to the KTM's 12. It also gets different plastics, presumably explaining the 145kg dry weight figure, 5kg more than the KTM.
