Honda CBR300R coming?

Big bore version of the 250 planned for some markets

THIS picture from a Thai forum (thaispyshot.com) seems to suggest Honda is set to launch a 300cc version of the CBR250R in September this year.

The bike looks identical to the 250, so presumably the changes are to the engine alone – perhaps as a worldwide model in response to Kawasaki’s Ninja 300 or simply a regional variation on the existing machine. In some places, for instance the bike we know as the CBR125R is sold with an extra 25cc as the CBR150R.

The picture seems to come from a Powerpoint presentation, presumably some sort of dealer presentation of new models. We’re not even certain which language the text on the picture is in, but if you can translate it, do let us know…

Update 7/5/2013: Thanks to Visordown member thoppa, we now know the following: Electronic ignition, single cylinder, 4 valve, water cooled, single disc. 143kg, release September 2013.

There is already a CB300R so it'd be a piece of cake to bung the cbr250r fairing on it.

It looks like simplified Chinese ?

This seems very easy to fake. I think a little healthy skepticism is in order here.

As the brand name Honda doesn't reside on any of the powerpoint to make it appear official it could easily be a copy. The 300cc engine for the Ninja is Chinese anyway

Why go for a 300? KTM are playing with another 90cc and Kawasaki a Twin.

Well, the date at the bottom is Sept 2013, and since the 300 engine is already in production in Brazil since 2011, and the bike is otherwise the same as the 250, we should know soon enough. Maybe they changed the cams ... the specs for the 300 are :

We definitely need to take such pieces with a pinch of salt.

its easier to make a hole bigger than to redesign an engine.
