Honda CBR250RR launch imminent

Noise from Japan and Indonesia indicates that the CBR250RR could get an official launch next week

HONDA’S forthcoming and much-anticipated CBR250RR could be launched next Monday, if news from Japan and Indonesia is correct.

The Japanese magazine Young Machine has published what we believe is a new rendering of the CBR250RR and accompanying the image is next Monday’s date – July 25, possibly the date of the official unveiling in Asia.

The news comes off the back of recent noise being made about the bike, courtesy of a teaser video from Indonesian Honda importer Astra Honda. The video (above and best viewed in slow motion) shows the CBR250RR in similar form to when it appeared as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of last year.

The bike’s exhaust isn’t clearly visible in the video and if Young Machine’s rendering is accurate, the CBR250RR could have a shotgun-style exhaust and not the single silencer that we’ve seen on the concept bike and official images.

Production is rumoured to start in August, with Asian markets likely to be catered to first of all. If and when the bike comes to Europe, America and the rest of the world, it’s like to have a capacity boost to 300 or even 350cc to put it on a similar footing to rivals like the Yamaha R3, KTM RC390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.

It’s likely that a launch for Europe and America will come towards the end of this year at the Eicma or Intermot show but if there’s more news next week, we’ll let you know.
