Honda CB300F: more pictures and details

Identical Japanese-market 250cc version unveiled

YESTERDAY’S reveal of the Honda CB300F in America came as something of a surprise, and with just one side-on picture available it seemed a bit lacking in depth. But now, thanks to the Japanese launch of the identical-looking CB250F, we’ve got a bit more to go on.

The Japanese spec bike is exactly the same as the version we’ll get, with the exception of the internal engine dimensions and the “250” stickers where ours will say “300.” The new pictures show that both ABS and non-ABS versions are being made, and fortunately they do without the hideous additional side reflectors that are mandated on American-spec bikes (and therefore appeared on the sole image available yesterday).

The European bike’s specs will be the same as the American version, and the CB300F is in turn identical in terms of power and engineering to the CBR300R – there’s no ‘detuning’ for the naked version. That means it makes 30.4hp and 19.9lbft.

The pictures from Japan also reveal some of the official accessories that will be offered. These include a pillion seat cover to give that single-seat look, a carbon front mudguard, a carbon bellypan, carbon radiator shrouds and a carbon ‘chin’ under the headlight. Similar stuff will also be available for the CBR300R, which can use the same seat cover and front mudguard and gets its own carbon bellypan.
